The Furman Group to host Shuck Cancer Golf Tournament

The Furman Group, the number one team with Joan Herlong & Associates Sotheby’s International Realty, is hosting the inaugural Shuck Cancer Golf Tournament on Saturday, October 8 at 3’s Greenville Golf & Grill.

Check-in starts at 10:30 a.m., and the first group will start at 11:15 a.m., said Patrick Furman of The Furman Group. 3’s Greenville Golf & Grill is located at 61 Villa Road. In addition to the golf, there will be a bounce house and putting challenge for children, prizes and a hole-in-one challenge. All proceeds go to The American Cancer Society.

“I lost my mother to cancer when she was 57. My grandfather was 69. That is why I am so passionate about raising money for the American Cancer Society,” Furman said. “When you lose someone your options to help feel limited — but hopefully what I CAN do will give your loved one more time.”

In addition, Chef Jalen Williams, formerly the head chef at 3’s and whose resume includes working at Michelin-starred French Laundry, will be serving up his famous ribs, BBQ Sundae, pulled pork and more. Sponsors include Keable & Brown, PA, Snyder Construction Services, Custom Performance, Long Tube Headers, Elite Home Care and Day Centers, Prime Lending, CCNB Bank, George Johnson Insurance, Ben Ivins Media, Under Armour Golf and BB Print and Promo. Cost is $130 for an individual and $500 for a five-person group.

This is a feeder event for The American Cancer Society’s Shuck Cancer event in November. Get more information and register at www.signup-golf.com.

“This is going to be a family friendly event” Furman said. “This is about more than golf. This is about helping and supporting the community. Thanks to our sponsors covering costs, all of the proceeds from teams signing up will go directly to the American Cancer Society.”
