SynTerra Corporation, a science and engineering firm with offices throughout the Southeast, announced the hiring of Danny McCormick as the company’s Construction Management Program Director. McCormick has 40 years of professional experience managing project phases, from planning through closeout. McCormick will work out of SynTerra’s Charlotte, NC, office.
“We are elated to gain the expertise and leadership of someone with Danny McCormick’s accomplishments,” said SynTerra President Steve Precourt. “His reputation and achievements across several sectors are big pluses in this competitive environment. He has led teams that include a wide variety of professionals. Danny is a people person, and he’s efficient.”
McCormick’s versatility ranges from civil-infrastructure projects to groundwater restoration and remediation to industrial and chemical projects. He has managed projects in the public, private, and military sectors, and he has vast experience working with state and federal regulators.
Prior to joining SynTerra, McCormick was a Senior Project Manager for six years at the Alliance of Professional Consultants (APC). He managed projects focused on achieving regulatory compliance — through monitoring and remediation — in areas where coal combustion occurred. That work included installation, sampling, testing, analyzing, and reporting involving 1,800 groundwater monitoring wells. He also was the Midwest lead planner for ash basin closures at multiple sites. While at APC, McCormick worked with environmental, engineering, and safety professionals to establish and maintain procedures and practices that align with client policies.
Before APC, McCormick was a Senior Project Manager for six years at Parsons Corporation. There, he established standard operating procedures and led safety programs related to facility condition assessments (FCA) of more than 4,400 buildings (totaling 60 million square feet) at 17 military installations. He also was the Senior Project Manager for the Defense Logistics Agency FCA program. In that role, he conducted building assessments at more than 300 military bases.
Previously, McCormick managed the successful completion of projects totaling more than $500 million related to heavy civil/infrastructure sites, industrial complexes, and office and retail buildings. He also managed tenant fit-up projects totaling more than $100 million. McCormick is a Marine Corps veteran.
