The Phillis Wheatley Community Center in Greenville will induct former State Senator Ralph Anderson, Broadway star Phillip Boykin, community leader Bobbie Jo Clinkscale, and business leader Stewart Spinks into the center’s Hall of Fame on October 14.
“The Hall of Fame Champions were selected for their extraordinary leadership and contributions to the community over many years. These four individuals have inspired us all with their leadership and accomplishments,” said Debra Rice, Chair of the Phillis Wheatley Board of Directors. “We are honored to recognize them in the Phillis Wheatley Hall of Fame Champions so that future generations will continue to learn from their legacies.”
Former State Senator Ralph Anderson will be inducted as the Public Policy Champion (posthumous) who tirelessly advocated for the public good as a member of Greenville City Council, a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, and as a State Senator.
Broadway star Phillip Boykin will be inducted as the Arts Champion for his accomplishments as a Tony-nominated performer.
Bobbie Jo Clinkscale will be inducted as the Community Champion (posthumous) who served many years as an administrator at Phillis Wheatley Community Center.
Chairman and Founder of Spinx Stewart Spinks will be inducted as the Business Champion who founded and grew his business in Greenville while investing in the community.
“We are thrilled to celebrate these leaders and to show our gratitude for their leadership,” said Randy Jackson, executive director of Phillis Wheatley Community Center. “As an alumnus of the center, I know how powerful it is for our young people to have examples of how to excel in business and the arts, how to serve the public as an elected official, and how to give back to their community.”
