This February 3, 2023 United Way of the Piedmont’s African American Leadership Society (AALS) is hosting its first ever Legacy Gala. This evening will be a showstopper, with dinner, dancing, live music, and a small business showcase.
Starting at 6:30 PM at USC Upstate’s campus in Spartanburg, the Legacy Gala is a night to celebrate philanthropy and the work of AALS. AALS is a Donor Network of United Way of the Piedmont that works to increase awareness of United Way’s work and raise money to support their priority projects.
This year’s proceeds will benefit United Way of the Piedmont’s housing and homelessness initiatives. For many families, one unexpected expense or one missed income check can totally disrupt a budget. When meeting basic needs is already a struggle, just one major blow can force a family to choose between putting food on the table and paying rent. United Way helps families before things spiral out of control by connecting families to community resources and/or providing rental assistance.
The African American Leadership Society recognizes this area of concern as a top priority, and encourages the community to come out for the Inaugural Legacy Gala to make this event a great success. All are welcome and encouraged to come prepared to party for philanthropy!
