Continuing the strong growth of Q1 in 2022, Greenville County added announcements by Fuyao Glass and Argo AI in April -- even as it prepares to unveil a "major economic development announcement" on June 6 at the GADC's Investors-only Annual Meeting & Luncheon. Invitations to the event go out later this week, and space will be limited. Fuyao Glass America Inc., announced plans to expand its existing operations in Fountain Inn, adding a $34.5 million investment and creating 121 new jobs. Since 1987, Fuyao Group has been producing and supplying high-quality automotive glass for original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket suppliers. The company manufactures 4 million glass car sets in the U.S. annually. The expansion includes additional assembly operations that will install parts to auto glass including sensors, antennas and more. In 2019, Fuyao built a 182,000sf production center in Fountain Inn, investing $16.1 million and creating 70 new jobs at the time. Days later, Argo AI announced plans to establish an autonomous driving test facility in Greenville County at the International Transportation Innovation Center inside the SC Technology and Aviation Center, investing $2.6 million and creating 40 new jobs. Founded in 2016, Argo develops self-driving technology products and services to make the world’s streets and roadways safe, accessible, and useful for all. Argo works with global automakers to integrate its Argo Autonomy Platform into vehicles to operate autonomous ridesharing and goods delivery around the world. It will be dedicated to highway-speed testing as the company advances towards commercial autonomous operations across multiple cities.
