The Upstate SC Alliance has hired Annie Caggiano, an economic development veteran with 19 years of experience, as Director of Business Recruitment.
Caggiano will be responsible for creating and implementing the Upstate SC Alliance’s global business recruitment strategy, working closely with partners at the state and local levels to showcase the Upstate as an ideal business location.
Entering her 19th year of a career in economic development, Annie brings a knowledge base informed by utility, university, state and county perspectives. In that time, she has worked with companies from many industries, with emphasis on automotive manufacturing and corporate headquarters, helping to bring more than $2.1 billion and 10,000 jobs to the state.
Prior to joining the Alliance team, Caggiano served as President of the Oconee Economic Alliance for two years, leading their industrial real estate product, workforce development and business recruitment and retention efforts.
“Since I started my career with an economic alliance group, I’m excited to bring my knowledge base from multiple perspectives back to serve at a regional level,” Caggiano said. “As a South Carolinian, my family’s roots are in the Upstate, and its thriving business environment and balanced quality of life make it a wonderful location. I’m excited to work with a diverse group of counties – both urban and rural – to help them find businesses who complement their communities.”
Previous roles include Central SC Alliance, where she served as Director of Research; Santee Cooper, as Senior Project Manager; Richland County, as Assistant Director; the SC Department of Commerce, as Project Manager.
“We’re excited to have Annie Caggiano join our team,” said Upstate SC Alliance President & CEO John Lummus. “She brings a wealth of knowledge, a robust network, and familiarity with the many ways that South Carolina can help companies land, launch and prosper here.”
